OM'ers and OM partners bringing help after the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey. They are giving away bags of essential products to the families affected by the earthquake.
At 04:00 on 6 February 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, followed by several large aftershocks, took place near the city of Gaziantep, Türkiye, in the southeastern part of the country. People across Türkiye, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and Israel were reported to have felt it. Since then, OM's partners have responded to help many.
In 2018, an earthquake off the coast of Indonesia caused a tsunami that wreaked havoc on the coastline. The city of Palu was the worst hit. Families had to sort through piles of their things that had been swept away or damaged. Photo by Ellyn Schellenberg
After an earthquake–and the resulting tsunami–destroyed much of her city, Sylvia worked to provide clean water in surrounding communities. "This water is like more than gold for us," people said.
