“Discipleship is the core purpose and focus of my ministry.” When Lam Kah Wai joined OM Japan in 2018, she was excited to realise that the OM vision “to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers” matched the desires planted in her heart. As she serves with her team in rural Japan, she has many opportunities to disciple both seekers and young believers.
God showed Lam Kah Wai the importance of discipleship by drawing her attention to how Jesus touched the world with the Gospel through His disciples whom he had walked closely with and discipled well. As God called her to mission in Japan, this desire to disciple was planted firmly in her heart.
Kah Wai, who is from Perak, thus found herself full of joy and excitement when OM’s International Director, Lawrence Tong, visited Malaysia in 2018 as she was preparing to leave for Japan. She had just joined OM and it was the first time she heard the OM vision – “We want to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers among the least reached”.
“The vision just aligned so well with what God has called me to do.”
Now in Tome, Japan, Kah Wai’s team shares and works towards the same vision of discipleship.
“God has blessed me with opportunities to disciple both young believers and seekers in Tome. It gives me tremendous joy and thanksgiving to witness their lives being transformed as they grow in their love and walk with Jesus. All glory to Jesus, our Lord as He is the One who gives us vision and empowers us to bring that vision to fruitfulness.”
