Where can you find 10 men from 10 different countries who work together closely, and sporadically, in a foreign land? Woo Kit Sang left his job as a schoolteacher in Selangor in 1986 and found himself growing exponentially in a country located in South Asia as he served with a multinational group of men from different continents, countries, ages, education backgrounds and professions. They ministered to South Asian churches and out in the streets of the city. Though open to remaining long-term in South Asia, Kit Sang realized God was calling him to serve as a pastor and he has just retired in 2022 after about 30 years of service.

Woo Kit Sang, a Selangor schoolteacher, started his Christian life at age 19. But he grew in the Lord, and started feeling drawn to and was burdened for the needs of the church, in particular, full-time pastoral needs. He resigned from his job after five years and joined OM ministry in South Asia in 1986 as a way to further ascertain God’s calling for his life.

In South Asia, he was put into a diverse, multinational men’s team from different backgrounds.

“The team members had different personalities, maturity and idiosyncrasies and with it, different problems and needs!

At one point, it was 10 men from 10 different countries! The other peculiarity of his team was that some members were only with them for three months as they were part of another men’s travelling team which was often in one place for a short time. He grew exponentially as for two years, the team lived together, reached out to the local people on the streets as well as ministered to the local churches.

As a team leader in his second year, Kit Sang grew in leadership skills and maturity to manage team members as well as the team situation, and relate to the local pastors, churches and seekers. One of his most satisfying moments was mentoring a local brother who eventually became an OM national leader. Though open to staying on long-term in South Asia, Kit Sang was certain of God’s confirmation to serve as a pastor in Malaysia. He married one year after returning to Malaysia, having met his future wife in South Asia, and has recently retired in 2022 after about 30 years of service as a pastor.

“In retrospect, all these years - in OM and as a husband, father and pastor - were lived out with no regrets at all despite the many struggles and challenges. Indeed, God's grace has not failed me thus far, and never will. All praise to the Lord God almighty!
