On the mission fields of South Africa, Wan Jun Tho gained a flexibility and adaptability that serves her well beyond her time there. During her time in the OM Missions Discipleship Training (MDT), Jun Tho widened her perspective and mindset as she handled different people and tasks in South Africa. Now as a leader for youths and young adults in a non-governmental organisation, her training and immersion in God’s Word during that 2018 stint keeps her going.

Wan Jun Tho never thought that she would be stretched in many ways when she attended the OM Missions Discipleship Training (MDT) in South Africa in 2018. She was trained to handle different people and tasks because she was sent to serve in different ministries in South Africa. This training is now serving her well in her life post-MDT.

“After MDT, I have become more flexible and adaptable in whatever I am doing.

“The first year after coming back from South Africa, I was working at an international school in my hometown in Johor. It was my first time in an administrative position and I was also handling a lot of other tasks in school, such as human resources, purchasing, logistics, marketing, customer service, etc. That time was a huge challenge for me, especially since I was not trained.

“Currently, I am working with a non-governmental organisation called Eden Welfare Charity Society, where I am mostly in charge of teaching the youth. Most of the youths are not believers, and it gives me a platform to serve as a missionary and share the good news with them. At the beginning, it was tough for me because I was working with both youths and young adults. The backgrounds and ages in these groups are very different.”

This Johor-origin lass found it challenging to change her perspective and mindset. But her time in MDT had taught her how to look at things more broadly as well as to go deeper into God’s Word.

“His Word helps me endure different challenges and struggles in life, especially in the ministries I am serving in right now. So, all the glory be to God.”
