Participating in OM’s Out of the Comfort Zone programme in 2013 proved to be truly one that took Ng Choon Tat into a world completely different from his own. A mission trip to Bandung and Salatiga, Indonesia, to communities in need of various forms of assistance was a humbling experience that shaped his life path. “I realized the profound impact that even small acts of kindness and service could have on individuals and communities in need.” He is now an IT executive with an organisation dedicated to serving underprivileged communities.

Working alongside fellow Out of the Comfort Zone participants and interacting with local people in Bandung and Salatiga, Indonesia, in 2013, Ng Choon Tat found a deep sense of purpose and fulfilment. During this mission trip, he was exposed to a world completely different from his own.

“The communities we visited were in need of various forms of assistance, and it was a humbling experience to witness their struggles. We engaged in activities that aimed to improve their living conditions, education, and overall well-being. It was during this trip that I realized the profound impact that even small acts of kindness and service could have on individuals and communities in need.

“The trip not only expanded my worldview but also ignited a passion for serving others, especially those less fortunate. I learned the value of empathy, compassion, and the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”

This experience with OM, and subsequent involvement in various OM activities such as Logos Hope and TeenStreet, instilled in Choon Tat a sense of responsibility to give back to the community and serve others. It motivated him to continue participating in volunteer and service-oriented initiatives.

“I realized that I wanted to dedicate my life to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

Today, as an IT Executive at ElShaddai Centre Bhd, Choon Tat, who is from Selangor, finds himself in a position where he can use his skills to support an organization dedicated to helping underprivileged communities. His experience with OM has been a driving force behind his career choice, as it has shown him the immense potential for positive change through service and compassion.

“In retrospect, my journey with OM has not only impacted the communities I have served but has also profoundly shaped my own life and career. I remain committed to carrying the lessons I've learned from OM with me, as I continue to serve and make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.”
